PSW group awarded contract by Transocean

(Bergen, Norway, August 6th, 2019) PSW Group has been awarded a contract with Transocean for Storage & Maintenance of Blow Out Preventers (BOP) for Cat-D rigs. The Agreement has a duration of 5 years.

The scope of work consist of Storage and IMR services (Inspection, Maintenance and Repair) of BOP and related equipment for all Transocean Cat-D rigs. BOP maintenance may have significant safety, financial and logistical implications for rig owners. By securing continuous availability of class approved BOPs, both safety and operability will be increased, ultimately leading to less downtime and lower maintenance costs.

The agreement is a result of PSW Group’s proven track-record of classing and maintenance of Well Control Equipment, and their investment in a new, tailor-made facility for BOP-related services. Due to the dimensions of a BOP, dissasembly, maintenance and reassembly require significant lifting capacity, as well as testing facilities and logistics. PSW Group’s new facility at Mongstad, Western Norway, is purpose-built and include a test pit, combined crane capacity of 240 tons and stack-up height of 18.5 meters.

CEO of PSW Group, Oddbjørn Haukøy, is excited about the awarded contract and what it signifies; “We are very pleased to be awarded this contract by Transocean, proving that our investment is a welcomed addition to the energy industry. I am confident that our new state-of-the-art facility combined with our extensive experience and skilled personnel will provide world-class services to this market”.

The new 10.000m2 facility is currently under construction and will be in operation in October 2019.
